Definition of the middle of no where

So I'm stuck in Fallon Nevada for a couple of weeks, it truely is the middle of no where. If its not, you can sure see it from here ;) This is about an hour and a half east of Reno. Nice scenery.......

And a local legend called Shoe tree. Yes those are all shoes hanging from a tree. The excitement here never ends

I'll never bitch about China again.

Thanks Cam, that makes the clear blue skies and 90 degree temperatures a little more bareable. Going to 95 this weekend, record highs for this time of year in the high desert (4000 feet). Maybe it will quit raining when I get home,

Is there a place to get booze a little closer than Reno?

Don't listen to that "dry heat" BS either. It's frickin hot out there.

How does the tree know what size shoe to grow? Or does it grow every size?

    Lol guys.

Didnt piss anyone off. Believe it or not, I signed up for this kind of work. I wont go if booze is hard to get, kinda my lifeblood to do this work ;) It's real clear here, nice scenery, but not a heck of a lot to do. Learned a long time ago hot is hot, dry heat my ass.

Mike - The tree is magic. All sizes, all styles, its just the small ones are at the top ;) Really, imagine a few thousand shoes hanging in a tree in the sun. Yep, it smells like you just imagined.

    Bob,

having scouted for industrial property north & east of Las Vegas I appreciate where you're coming from... I did get to do drive bys of Nellis AFB, LV motor speedway & the Shelby plant.

The vastness & stark conditions of the desert is sobering. It really made me appreciate what we have here in W PA. Not much is green there unless it borders a stream or is irrigated. Kind of freaked me out. I saw people that threw up a house or trailer in the middle of the desert with only dirt roads mile long. Do these people hate other people so bad they want to live like that? I found that strange.

    Dude,

You are lucky to be alive from what my co-workers say.

They would drive 45min-1hr to the next town just to eat everynight...

You sure nailed this place. Funny to see a trailer a mile off, nothing around at all, 45 minute drive to a store and gas. Crazy for sure. This town in here only because there is water (run off from the Sierra's), we are here because it is remote ;) Actually, we had an ore mine out here in the 50's that long ago closed, just never left.

I've adjusted to China pretty well. At least there I can get into something interesting, and always feel in control. I spent enough of time there that I know the ins and outs, and can pretty well get around as I desire. Here, if you dont gamble, raise cattle, or like to use a metal detector, well, there nothing to do here. There are brothels, but I'll pass.

Amen about the green scenery we have here east.
It's rough going out west for a while where everything is just a shade of brown.. very bland.

I agree. I'd move out to Arizona in a heartbeat but our whole family is here. The scenery is beautiful, and they get something like 360 days of sun! That's my kind of weather!
