hey guys i have a few questions actually. im really lookin into doin a big performance upgrade. should i go with new internals on my cobra motor or just start lookin for a 5.4 motor? if i go with the 5.4 what should i look for, and im really lookin to buy either the hpperformance twin turbo kit or the 2.1 intercooled kenne bell supercharger kit. what should i do any suggestions?any info would help cause dont know to much about performance upgrdes.(if u seen my car u would understand that)

I think there is goods and bads to both superchargers and turbos on the 4v's.
Alot of people complain about the heat generated from the turbo's and the tight engine compartment, but all love the power they provide. The KB would be an easier install, probly a bit cheaper also, but your not giong to get the same power as you would from the hp kit, even if you do match peak hp numbers the torque curve from the turbo's would be where the difference is. i think a better question would be to ask yourself is are you mechanically inclined?? To say you dont know much about performance mods is to say you may have a problem dealing with a turbo kit or a hefty blower, IMO either way its gonna take some mechanical know how, (unless your rich) because even once its built there are things that you will need to know how to do or how to change, not to mention the amount of work it take to convert a car to 5.4 blown or spooled... Not knocking you by any means just trying to give you a little heads up, but if i were building a nuts street car i would build a 5.4 supercharged...

i would not have a problem there cause im pretty well mechanically inclined and what i dont know my dad or my pap will no. what i meant by that is that i dont know to much about aftermarket products. if i were to go with a tt kit i would send it somewhere to be done though

if you when with a built 5.4 youd wanna go with a bigger blower than a 2.1.

if they dont make a bigger blower than that just get the twin hairdryers.

BTW. you could make 1000+ horsepower easy with a twin turbo 5.4

    Twin Turbos FTW! hehe :)

I'd suggest you take a ride in an example of both... For all out power, speed & wins, i think there's no better way to go than turbos... However, i think that the twin screw blowers would probably be a lot more "fun" than turbos on the street... However, they could quite possibly get you in trouble a lot more?... I personally could see myself getting in trouble a lot if i had instant massive torque numbers off idle... i'd be fish-tailing constantly.

Like i said, take a ride in both and see what you like more... You're more thank welcome to go for a ride in my car (Twin Turbo LS1 making 698rwhp/706rwtq on 13psi)... Its absolutely insane, but i could see myself having just as much fun in a KB LS1 (not possible in the f-bodies, though ppl are trying) with 150 less rwhp - just because of the difference in power delivery..... Either way, i'm still partial to my turbos... absolultely love the power, but how can you not?

I gotta side with the turbos as well.

There is a huge plus to having the "instant on" of a KB blower, but from an efficiency standpoint the turbos are going to completely pwn a KB.

Moreover, being that each turbo has 2.7 liters of displacement (assuming a 5.4 l engine) there are many turbo options out there that are going to give you a fast spoolup and still give good flow to redline.

IMO turbos offer more adjustability too. Going to the racetrack and putting some C16 in? No problem! a moment adjusting your electronic boost controller to up the boost, flip to your race tune and you're ready to go. No pully swaps, no fuss, no muss.

From what i have seen and heard the KBs USUALLY only make the big numbers on the 4v's.. So if you want big numbers and fast times i say go with tts but if your about the street i say KB.. I did see a 2v Roush sn95 body style last night trap a 138mph last night with a KB on a 4.9
