    Best heater core to get?

Well I have 2 foxes with bad heater cores and I just have the coolent lines hooked together to get by, but because of this wonderful PA weather I am going to fix them. I did put one in from Advanced Auto and it lasted about 6 years. I don't want to do it again after this time. So whats the best brand to use?

OEM FORD, and make sure the restrictor is in the one heater hose as well.

kinda curious about this myself. hard to tell who has quality products these days. i got a 4seasons but we'll see. all i know is to stay away from ebay 'quality' products.

btw, what was advanced autos warranty? probably one year but you could try to take it back ??

X2 - Ford part all the way, and the restrictor.

Of course, if I ever need on in the Capri, i'll put in whatever I can grab. Non AC car, so I can change the heater core in 20 minutes :D

You mean that yours isnt open the glove box, remove the little panel, pull out the core?? Just busting you, i've done the job on several AC cars, i know the pain.

The restrictor is a little insert that goes in the supply side, keeps the pressure down on the core. I "think" it was first used on the SSP cars, but has become pretty common. If you are going to a dealer for the core, they will (or should) know what you mean.

from what i have read, lack of the restrictor makes the replacements fail a lot quicker.
ironic thing is ford core was not much more than a auto parts store one.
for as big of a pain in the ass of a job it is, its better to spend the extr 10-20 bucks on oem.

I'm not sure Shaun, I thought Ford added them at some point, but really don't know.

Another source on-line (a little cheaper).

Go to the Ford dealer, ask for one and see what it looks like. It's just an orifice, cant be hard to make / duplicate. That or just buy one ;)
