I really nice our plasma tv, and your really not going to get burnout anytime soon unless your keeping something paused for like 8 hours +, but most tvs go to a screen saver anyhow.

The quality is really good. We have a 52 incher on in our family room,

Just got a Samsung 40" LCD the other day. We love it! Compare them at the store and ask to see different shows or a movie on the ones you like to make it easier to compare. Right now the colors in the Samsung line are very vivid and hard to beat.

I have two LCD's, a 32" & 46" Sharp Aquos 1080p...no complaints about either. Phenomenal picture. LCD is better than plasma any day of the week, as long as you have the proper HD setup. Sharp and Samsung make the best LCD TV's right now...especially for the $$$$$$

Another vote for LCD. I've researched this to death over the last year or two and the LCD is the better all around TV IMO. Just make sure you get a 1080p so you can fully enjoy Blue Ray later...trust me you will want to do that the Blu Ray on my 60 in 1080p Sony is F'n sick!

Plasma may have a shorter life. You cannot argue that they have nice contrast and make an excellent showing with regard to colors.

Two things bother me still about them besides that though.

If it's in a room with lots of light you will have shadow reflections, and they can STILL get burn in no matter how much better that they make them, it can still happen to an extent.
