6-16-08 Lightning pics from my front porch...

Many of us experienced Mother Nature's rath yesterday and witnessed some crazy skies. I had taken my wife out for her birthday and when we got home all hell broke loose and the skies lit up with lightning. I took the opportunity to try out my new SLR camera and attempted to take some shots of the lightning. I couldn't believe how some of the shots came out that I took. I actually got 15 different pics with lightning in them, but the following are by far the best I took. These pics were taken from my front porch looking out towards the hill behind the new Giant Eagle/Home Deport shopping center for those that know the area.

Thanks! The camera is way better than the operator at this point, but I'm trying to master it. LOL!

It'd be even more badass if there was an SVT Lightning in the shot as well. You must have sick reaction time in order to pull those shots off.

Thanks everyone! Although these are nice, what you don't see if the 50 or shots that got nothing in them LOL! Although shooting lightning is hard, this camera makes it a lot easier. I used to use a simple point and shoot camera and I'd just snap continuously until I caught something. I was lucky to get one out of 100 it seemed, but once you get one you can't wait to get the next one. Its almost like hunting! LOL!

Nice pictures!! glad to see another canon on here, they're phenomenal cameras. Practically idiot proof and takes great shots.

If you ever want to see what somebody is shooting with, download the picture and then check out the properties... most cameras imprint a bunch of info into the photo. (Not sure if you knew that or not, so I figured I'd post it for you)
