Long tube headers MIGHT get you 20hp..no where near 30-40hp on a Mod motor. And as it was said they dont have wires or dist. caps. I would do a larger upper plenum..C&L,BBK..the like. BBK has one now that has a Throttle body built into it. A Hardballer intake manifold...wont have the problems of the stock intake with nitrous puddling in it. Cam's..Hitec Stage 2's would be great along with upgraded springs and retainers. Then if you have the cash do a built bottom end...Cobra crank some quality rods and pistons.

I don't understand why the aftermarket hasn't embraced the mod motors ie heads, intakes. Parts are starting to trickle out, but the choices are minimal, especially for an engine that has been in the Mustang for 12 years

Anyway, if you plan on making reliable power, plan on upgrading the reciprocating assembly, specifically the cracked powder rods, and the pistons. The usual bolt-ons would definately be a good start

    Fordstrokers 347 4.030 bore, 3.400 stroke, 5.315 rod, 10.6:1CR
Canfield 195 heads, Ferrea 6000 valves, Comp springs, Ti retainers, roller rockers, hand bowl blended
Camshaft Innovations custom billet core hydraulic roller camshaft
TFS Track Heat, 75mm TB, 90mm MAF, 36lb/hr inj
TREMEC 3550, billet flywheel, RAM clutch, 4.10 gears

Ditch the n2o and put a turbo kit on that thing, then beat it till you break something, then upgrade.

Because its more expensive and time comsuming to make the OHC heads. Also its harder to improve on what can be had with decent port jobs for the money. Look at what cams are doing for the 3v motors..new article in MM&FF...51hp peak improvement..and up to 81hp under the peak!! Thats HUGE!!!
